About Yael
Yael is an endorsed Educational and Developmental Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Yael has over 10 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a diverse range of settings, including Early Intervention Services, and across government, catholic and independent schools at the preschool, primary and secondary level. Given her extensive experience working in various school settings, Yael values the importance of working collaboratively with teachers and leadership staff to ensure children are receiving appropriate school based intervention and that the benefits of therapy generalise to the wider context for the young person.
Yael works therapeutically with children and adolescents who experience a range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges. This includes, but is not limited to anxiety, depression, behavioural concerns, friendship issues, learning difficulties and neurodivergence. Yael is also well versed and offers cognitive and achievement assessments used to identify learning strengths and needs. This includes the assessment for Intellectual Disability and Specific Learning Disorders. Yael also contributes to the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism. She recognises the importance of working collaboratively with the young person, family, teachers and key support people following assessment outcomes to enhance support.
As a mother of two young children, Yael enjoys working with parents to provide practical and supportive strategies. Yael recognises the importance of taking the time to provide parents with psychoeducation and coaching to ensure they feel confident and empowered in their parenting choices.
Yael uses a variety of therapeutic modalities individually tailored to each client. These include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. She is also a trained facilitator of the Circle of Security Parent (COSP) program.
